People have different views about whether competition or cooperation is more beneficial in work, school and daily life. While some people believe that competition brings many benefits, others support the idea that cooperation is the more valuable approach. In this essay, I am going to analyse both points of view and provide my own opinion.
On the one hand, some people argue that competition is a positive force. The main reason for believing this is that competition pushes individuals to improve themselves. To be more specific, when people compete with each other, they tend to work harder and set higher goals for themselves. Another reason is that competition drives overall progress in society. One good illustration of this is the business world, where companies constantly compete to create better products and offer lower prices to attract customers.
On the other hand, others believe that cooperation should be valued more highly. For one thing, working together creates a more supportive and friendly environment. To illustrate, students who study in groups often feel less stressed because they can share ideas and help each other with difficult problems. For another, cooperation helps build lasting relationships between people. Teammates who work closely towards a common goal tend to develop trust and deep friendship over time, which is something that competition alone cannot easily provide.
In conclusion, although it might seem sensible to believe that competition is the best way to drive achievement, I personally prefer cooperation as a guiding principle in life. The sense of connection and mutual support that comes from working together brings more lasting satisfaction than winning alone.
